    What are you reading?

I recently finished all of the Diane Mott Davidsons books.    I have been reading some Lillian Jackson Braun "Cat Who" books, some Strohmyer "Bubbles" books and recently (per the advice of Chicky Poo) have read 1 1/2 books of Joanne Fluke "Murder She Baked" series.

I have definitely made up for my lack of reading in recent months and am sometimes doing almost a book a night sometimes!

I asked for the new John Grisham for Christmas and am anxiously awaiting whenever Sue Grafton releases "V is for????"

I'm reading Body Double by Tess Gerritsen.  I love all of her books so far.  I'm waiting for Jim Butcher to release his new book in paperback, and for Charlaine Harris to release her next book in the Sookie Stackhose series.  I read all of her books, but that series is my favorite.

Edited because I got a name wrong (was drinking my first cup of coffee hehe).

I'm reading a Michael Connolly book right now, Black Ice. It's DH's book and his favorite author but I haven't made it to the library in a while so just needed something to read before bedtime. But it is a little violent so not all that pleasant at bedtime, LOL.

I asked for the Girl Who Kicked Over the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson for Christmas. I've read the other two books in the series and found them interesting. A little dark, though.

I will start a new Bible study book after the first of the year, Running with Horses (?), I think. I can't remember the exact name right now.

Stacycue, I have read a lot of the Sookie Stackhouse series and would like to remember which book was my last so I can pick back up with that. I read those this past summer.

But right now, the boys and I are doing some Magic Treehouse books at night. My middle son and I just finished a Frog and Toad book and my oldest is very much into Captain Underpants.

I am reading a romance right now. During the week, I will be looking at a homeschool book and one on Christmas.

    Re: What are you reading?

This is a great thread! I love to read, and this is also a great way for us to get to know each other a little better :)

I'm on the last few pages of "Master your metabolism" by Jillian Michaels. I'm surprised at how much knowledge is in this book. I expected it to be mostly things I'd already heard a dozen times, and was pleasantly surprised.

I used to have a couple books going at once and would end up forgetting most of what I read, so now I just do one book at a time, and sometimes re-read it before returning it.

I only check them out from the library. Not sure if all libraries do this, but ours has a way to order a book, some sort of inter-library system. I can also renew over the internet if I'm not finished by the time its due, so I rarely buy books.

The only other reading I'm doing is bible with DH in the evenings. We started out a couple years ago intending to read a chapter a night. Now it has evolved into a more practical time that we spend reading one chapter, or more, on the evenings when we have time. We usually do it a few times a week now. It's amazing how just having those words in the back of my mind cause me to think before I tell him how wrong he is, (even though he is) (grins) :)

    Re: What are you reading?

I am reading "Unstuff Your Life" and "The Pritikin Principle". Getting a head start on those new year's resolutions. Taking copious notes in a ten cent notebook from back-to-school sales.

I do my best to read frugally. These are library books. Our local library does free inter-library loans so there is very rarely a reason to buy a book. I bought lots during the homeschooling years but mostly do the library now. I also buy books from garage sales and thrift stores, but my max price is a quarter. I frequent book stores, but will write down titles and then ILL them. Sometimes the library buys the book instead and then I get to read it first. Geeked

    Re: What are you reading?

Just purchased Twain's autobiography as an e-book, on a bait-and-switch.  I had a coupon code for 25% off in my e-mail, but it wasn't charged against the purchase.  Wottheheck, it was still ten bucks cheaper than the dead-tree version.  Been reading Lucy Rosen's "Fast Track Networking" and just finished James Hall's  Hard Aground.  James W. Hall's books are a delight to someone who spent twenty years experiencing Florida lunacy, and hilarious to everyone else.

I'm reading "Power Hungry:  The Myths of "Green" Energy and the Real Fuels fo the Future"--a 2010 HB that retails for $25, and I paid $4.99 for it, including shipping.  For book shopping, I use AddAll Books, which gives you prices of books INCLUDING SHIPPING--not just book price. I always pay half or less what the retail price was, even if it means waiting two years to buy the book(s).

For free books, you can always check Google Books for totally online availability.
